コマンドからクレープへ |
オールデン好きの方はご存知かと思いますが、オールデンの靴は米国から個人輸入で購入可能です。いろんな掲示板にも掲載されていますが、僕が知っているお店は以下の２店。

最近返品した靴は The Alden Shop で購入したのですが、手持ちのもう一足は Alden of Carmel から買った茶色のチャッカブーツです。
で、今回、このチャッカブーツをソール交換のため Alden of Carmel に送り返すことにしました。
Alden of Carmel では、Alden Restoration Program （詳細は上記のURLをご参照ください）というのがあって、靴を送り返せば、ファクトリーでのソール交換にも応じてくれます。但し、原則は米国内の顧客を対象としたプログラムのようで、今回はメールで打診し、了解を得ました。尚、プログラムの対象は Alden of Carmel で購入した靴に限るのでご注意を。
ソール交換にはまだちょっと早いとも思うのですが、ヒールはそろそろ交換する時期に来ているのがひとつ、それから今のソールはコマンドソール（ゴムのごつごつしたソール）なので、それをクレープソールに換えたいというのが今回のリソールのもうひとつの理由です。
オールデンは、他メーカーの靴にない売りがいくつかあります。例えば、コードバン、モディファイドラスト。それと並んでクレープソールもオールデン独特のものです。いわゆるクレープソールにつま先部分のみレザーが張られていいます。今までこのクレープソールは試したことがないので、どういう履き心地なのか、楽しみ。来週早々には発送しようと考えています。
コードバン：馬の尻の革。一度履き皺が入ったらとれないので、個人的にはカーフ（牛革）のほうがすきです。
モディファイドラスト：ラストとは木型のことで、これはバーリーラスとと並んでオールデンを代表する木型のひとつ。土踏まず部分が絞られていて履き心地は上々です。
